Author who has used Burnett's techniques for over 20 years sheds well focussed light on his methodology. Burnett, a medical doctor, pioneered the use of drainage remedies (eg: Ceanothus tincture for spleen) - as well as a number of other approaches to serious pathology including cancer, and scourges such as smallpox and T.B., which were rife in his 19th century practice.
Burnett's main technique: the frequent repetition of the perceived nosode (eg: Bacillinum) to address underlying pathology, alongside other remedies - achieved astounding results in serious illness like terminal cancer.
Tabrett clarifies the many ways Burnett climbed the different rungs of the disease ladder to achieve his desired result in "Hybrid" cases. He discusses how Burnett deployed organ drainage plus simillimum, and/or triads - (a rotation of 3 remedies, often nosodes) - eg: Medorrhinum/Thuja/Sabina or Thuja/ Sabina/Cupressus for the sycotic miasm.
He examines and clarifies various concepts used by Burnett - such as the exposed, active and dormant miasm, and vaccinosis.
Organ support remedies and the nosodes most commonly employed by Burnett are listed, together with their therapeutic indications. Many cases - Burnett's own and those from the author's practice - show how powerfully healing the effects of such prescribing could be.
An extremely interesting and enlightening read about a brilliantly maverick master of homeopathy. The relevance of Burnett's prescribing to today's even more complex, layered and "Hybrid" cases is highlighted by the author's own experience in practice. Highly recommended work for the student or professional homeopath.
