Subtitled 'Their Peculiar Nature and Their Homeopathic Cure,', Hahnmann's original four volumes are condensed into two, presenting a detailed compilation on the basic concepts of miasms, together with 48 antipsoric remedies with original provings. So we have his miasmatic theory laying the groundwork for the treatment of chronic disease by homoepathic means, and a review of 48 remedies that show how Hahnemann used this theory in practice. The provings are unique in that he was, as we know, the first physician to prove his medicines on healthy human beings in order to determine exactly how a remedy might act to cure disease.

This is the third publication of Hahnmann's, coming after his Organon of Medicine and then the Materia Medica Pura.
